Chevron, one of the world’s largest energy corporations, has had an asbestos lawsuit dropped in Jefferson County District Court. The lawsuit was filed on behalf of Thaddeus Alpough by Mary Alpough and her siblings in August of 2011.
The petition claimed that Alpough was employed at Chevron as a boilmaker helper and pipelifter, a position that exposed him to asbestos. The suit alleges Alpough’s death as a result of asbestos-related pleural disease, lung cancer and gastric cancer was caused by working conditions at Chevron. The Alpough family claimed that Chevron knew of the dangerous conditions its employees were exposed to but failed to take action to improve them.
Court records show that Judge Gary Sanderson granted a joint motion for dismissal with prejudice late last year which effectively ended the lawsuit.
